Brazil Must Invest in Artificial Intelligence to Compete Globally

Brazil must consider artificial intelligence as a key strategy to compete globally. Well-structured public policies and talent development are crucial to attract investments in this technological sector.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is today a strategic field in the global race for advanced technologies. While the United States and China are leading, Brazil must adopt a well-structured approach with responsible fiscal policies if it wants to be part of this technological landscape. The panel 'The New Industry: AI, Geopolitics and Competitiveness in the Era of Transformation,' held during the Agenda Global 2026 Forum, emphasized that treating AI as a strategic theme is necessary for Brazil. According to Larissa Wachholz, a partner at Vallya and a 'senior fellow' at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (Cebri), well-crafted public policies are essential to attract investments in this technological sector. The country has competitive advantages such as talent formation and an existing industrial base that can be leveraged to increase its global competitiveness. Additionally, Brazil’s capacity to dialogue and maintain stability amid geopolitical instability is a significant economic asset. The main focus for Brazil should be aligning public policies with the development of qualified professionals to seize opportunities offered by AI.
