Buyers' Opportunity in USDCAD: A Technical and Macro Analysis

The USD/CAD pair reached its highest level since August but failed to advance further. Buyers now have an opportunity to prove their strength near the support zone between 1.3990 and 1.4003.

Today's session saw the USD/CAD pair reach its highest level since August 8, hitting 1.4023. This was a positive development for buyers as the pair recently advanced higher and firmly surpassed the psychological level of 1.4000. However, the rally failed to push beyond the next upside target at the 61.8% retracement from the June high at 1.40502. The stall in movement occurred about 27 pips shy of that level. This lack of progress encouraged profit-taking and brought sellers back into the market, resulting in a subsequent downward move that took the price back to the familiar swing zone between 1.3990 and 1.4003. This region has been a recurring decision area since June, with several instances when buyers and sellers used this range to define the short-term bias. The question now is whether the recent dip from 1.4023 marks just a corrective pullback within the broader upward trend or the beginning of a more significant reversal. Buyers get another chance to prove their strength in the support zone near 1.4000. If USD/CAD can hold this area between 1.3990 and 1.4003 and remain above the 50% retracement at 1.39893, buyers will maintain their positive trend.
