China’s Manufacturing PMI Points to Economic Stability

China’s September manufacturing and composite PMIs point towards economic stability, with both sectors recording readings above the previous month.

The latest official manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for September in China shows a slight improvement, with the final reading at 50.1, slightly above expectations and higher than the previous month's 49.8. This stability is reflected not only in manufacturing but also in the non-manufacturing sector, which recorded 50.2, surpassing the anticipated value. The composite PMI, encompassing both sectors, reached 50.7, its highest level since May this year. These figures suggest economic stability in China, an economy that has faced challenges due to international trade volatility and geopolitical uncertainties. An improvement in the manufacturing PMI may indicate that recent government measures to stimulate productive activity are yielding results, although growth remains modest compared to accelerated growth rates. However, it's important to note that this PMI is based on heavy industry, which might not fully reflect conditions in retail or service sectors. Source: ForexLive (InvestingLive)
