CNJ Conducts Searches at Desembargador’s Office Linked to STF
The National Council of Justice (CNJ) conducted searches in the office of Judge Newton Ramos, linked to STF, seeking material related to sugar and alcohol sector precatory payments. The operation aims to investigate potential irregularities and increases transparency in judicial processes.
On Thursday, 24th, the Corregedoria of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) carried out an operation involving searches in the office of Judge Newton Ramos, from the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF-1). This action, part of an extraordinary procedure conducted by Corregedor-minister Benedito Gonçalves, aimed to gather material related to the sugar and alcohol sector. The operation involved support from the Federal Police (PF) and was prompted by a series of denunciations involving potential irregularities in the management of precatory payments in this sector. Judge Newton Ramos, who previously served at TRF-1 before moving to the Supreme Federal Court (STF), continues his duties while awaiting clarifications and possible hearings from the CNJ. The searches carried out aim to investigate possible ethical violations and irregularities in the handling of these processes, which could have significant implications for both the judicial and economic spheres, particularly given the current importance of issues related to justice and compliance with financial obligations in the sugar and alcohol sector. The CNJ’s actions in the case of Judge Newton Ramos are seen as part of a series of measures aimed at increasing transparency and reducing potential conflicts of interest in federal courts, at a time where the role of fiscal and administrative justice is gaining prominence in the national economy.
