Digital Banking Giant Digimais Struggles with Financial Pressures

Digimais reported a net loss of R$ 581.4 million and a negative Basileia index, necessitating detailed capital enhancement plans and potential sales strategies to address financial pressures.

The Digimais bank, a financial entity led by the Reverend Edir Macedo, reported a net loss of R$ 581.4 million in the first half of this year. This financial performance raises concerns about the stability and sustainability of the banking institution. The Basileia index for Digimais dropped to -4.62%, below the regulatory minimum of 10.5%. Such a situation necessitates a detailed plan from the Central Bank to enhance capital. Among its assets, Digimais holds R$ 98.53 billion, with nearly 32% attributed to securities and other financial instruments. However, the pressure on liabilities at R$ 9.522 billion underscores the urgent need for a financial resolution. The efforts to reach an agreement with the FGC for sale to BTG Pactual reflect a strategic move towards securing its viability in the competitive digital market.
