Economists Adjust Projections: Inflation and GDP Outlooks for 2026
The Boletim Focus has slightly reduced its projections for inflation and GDP in 2026, while maintaining other forecasts such as the Selic rate and exchange rates stable.
The Boletim Focus, released by InfoMoney this Monday (10), has presented minor adjustments in the projections for inflation and economic growth up to 2026. While there was a slight reduction in the projected inflation measured by IPCA, expectations for GDP also experienced a mild decrease. These modifications reflect current market assessments regarding future economic prospects. The projection for the IPCA's inflation in 2026 has been lowered from 5.03% to 5.02%, maintaining overall stability but with slight adjustments that may influence monetary policy and investment decisions. For IGP-M and administered price inflation, projections were also slightly revised downward, indicating a trend of moderate reduction in these rates over the near future. However, for 2027 and 2028, forecasts remained stable compared to previous quarters, suggesting an economic scenario where inflation is likely to remain within limits set by the Brazilian Central Bank. In contrast to these adjustments for price indices, GDP projections were slightly reduced from 1.99% in 2026 to 1.98%. This trend of moderate growth could indicate an economic environment where macroeconomic constraints continue to influence industrial performance. The Selic rate remained stable with its projections maintained at 13.75% for the end of 2026, while the exchange rate kept projected values for the coming years unchanged. These adjustments highlight the importance of the financial market in shaping economic expectations and their direct impact on policy decisions. Source: InfoMoney
