Fiscal Minister Challenges Claims of Inaction on BRB Crisis

Finance Minister Dario Durigan challenged claims of inaction by the federal government regarding the BRB crisis. He highlighted active roles played by the Ministry in seeking financial solutions for the bank, reflecting broader challenges in financial coordination among governmental bodies.

In a swift move to refute allegations of government inaction, Finance Minister Dario Durigan Washington Costa forcefully countered claims made by the Government of the Federal District (GDF) regarding the BRB bank. At a press conference held on Friday, 14th, Durigan denied these accusations and highlighted the active role played by the Union in financial matters. 'It's a huge mistake to say that the Ministry is inactive,' stated Durigan. The financial turmoil at the BRB, caused by alleged fraudulent operations with Banco Master, has been subject to intense negotiations. The federal government proposed securing a crucial loan of R$ 6.6 billion, although this solution remains under discussion. The intervention of the Finance Ministry in the BRB case reflects the complexities of the financial system and the need for coordinated efforts among governmental bodies to maintain economic stability. 'Even without a direct relationship with the problem, we have taken on the responsibility to present a viable solution,' said Durigan, emphasizing joint efforts with the Fundo Garantidor de Créditos (FGC) and other private banks.
