Gold Market Reacts Positively to New Fed Policy Indications
The gold market reacted positively to new indications of a more dovish stance from the Federal Reserve, with Kevin Waller signaling greater patience regarding interest rate hikes. This highlights the significant influence central bank communications have on global financial markets.
On Thursday (3), the gold market experienced a notable recovery, reflecting changes in U.S. monetary policy expectations. This reaction followed an interview with Federal Reserve Director Kevin Waller for Reuters, which indicated a more 'dovish' (favorable to lower interest rates) stance compared to Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole. Gold prices, traded on the Comex of New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex), increased by 2.87% and reached US$ 4491.70 per troy ounce. This reaction was accompanied by a decline in the U.S. dollar and Treasury bond yields, signaling that more patience regarding rate hikes may prevail at the Fed meeting in September. The changes in bets showed significant shifts: while yesterday's probability of maintaining rates stood at 36.8%, today it has risen to 47.6%. This suggests a relief move in financial markets following new Fed perspectives. Gold often serves as a safe haven during economic and political uncertainty, and this positive reaction underscores the importance of central bank statements for global market behavior.
