Macroeconomic Stability: Market Projections for Inflation and GDP Growth in Brazil from 2026 to 2028

The Focus report by the Central Bank maintained projections for inflation and GDP growth in Brazil at relatively stable levels from 2026 to 2028, with gradual adjustments in key interest rates during this period.

The Focus report released by the Central Bank (BC) reveals a relatively stable macroeconomic scenario for Brazil over the next three years. The official inflation rate, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), remained nearly constant between 2026 and 2028. For 2026, market economists projected an inflation rate of 5.15%, while for 2027 and 2028, estimates aligned at 4.20% and 3.78%, respectively. These rates reflect the ongoing monetary policies aimed at balancing inflation stabilization with sustainable economic growth. The benchmark interest rate (Selic) also maintained its projection at 14% for 2026, gradually decreasing to 10.50% by 2028, indicating a gradual adjustment in monetary conditions. In terms of GDP growth, the economy was projected to maintain a growth rate of 1.99% for 2026 and showed a slightly declining trend until 2028 with projections at 1.65%. The exchange rate also displayed stability, with the dollar's forecast remaining between R$5.20 (2026) and R$5.30 (2028). These projections indicate a Brazilian economy that, despite challenges, will follow a gradually more stable path, reflecting both market expectations and current government policies.
