New Financing Dynamics Raise Questions on Regulation and Transparency in Banking Sector
Banco Master has disbursed R$ 870 million in funding to recently-founded firms, raising questions about questionable financial practices and regulatory challenges within the banking sector.
In an ever-evolving macroeconomic landscape, the recent surge of financing from Banco Master to newly-established companies has sparked concerns about regulation and transparency within the banking sector. According to a report by Valor Econômico based on tax documents provided to the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee on Organized Crime, nearly 30% of the largest transactions were directed towards firms founded after 2021. Among the 117 businesses that received at least R$ 5 million, 35 are recent startups, totaling approximately R$ 870 million between 2022 and 2025. A notable case is Telure, which received over R$ 110 million since its founding in 2023 and is presided by Fabia Franca, a director with a recent history of government emergency aid. This dynamic not only questions the financing practices but also raises concerns about shell companies and potential violations of tax and regulatory rules.
