New Steps in FinTech Regulation: Recognition of SROs
The Reserve Bank of India has recognized Unified Fintech Forum as the second Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) in the FinTech sector. This step reflects a global trend towards more assertive and transparent regulation, aimed at promoting consumer confidence and securing digital financial transactions.
In the rapidly expanding digital financial services landscape, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently recognized Unified Fintech Forum as the second Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) in the FinTech sector. This move aligns with global efforts by governments and regulators to ensure sustainability, integrity, and security in digital financial transactions. The first organization to receive such recognition was the FinTech Association for Consumer Empowerment (FACE), back in August of this year. The primary goal of these initiatives is to foster healthy competition among service providers, enhance consumer confidence, and mitigate systemic risks associated with advanced financial technology. This step demonstrates RBI's commitment to adapting its regulatory policies to meet the emerging needs of the FinTech industry, which continues to expand its reach and significance in the global financial system.
