On September 28, 2026, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conducted an open market operation (OMO), selling government securities with varying maturity dates. In total, INR 250 billion ($3.4 billion) worth of bonds were offered for sale, including 7.59% GS 2029 (INR 13.5 billion), 6.45% GS 2029 (INR 6.1 billion), 7.61% GS 2030 (INR 13.2 billion), 5.85% GS 2030 (INR 9.2 billion), 6.54% GS 2032 (INR 143.5 billion), and 7.26% GS 2032 (INR 64.5 billion). The offerings were well received by investors, with cut-off yields ranging from 6.67% to 7.10%. RBI stated that full details of the auction will be released shortly. This operation reflects RBI’s commitment to efficiently managing monetary supply and inflation within the country, aligning with global trends of economic stabilization and public debt management. The decision demonstrates a certain caution in light of the current global economic environment, where issues such as China's slowing economy and tighter U.S. monetary policies could impact emerging markets.
