Public Suspicious of Politically Motivated Tariffs from US

A Datafolha poll indicates over half of Brazilians suspect politically motivated purposes behind U.S. tariffs. Among Flávio Bolsonaro’s supporters, 73% believe these tariffs are intended to aid his presidential campaign.

A recent Datafolha survey has revealed that over half of the Brazilian public suspects politically motivated purposes behind tariffs imposed by the United States. The percentage of those who support this theory stands at 52%, while 37% dismiss it and 11% remain unsure. This trend is particularly evident among Flávio Bolsonaro’s supporters, with 73% believing that the tariffs are meant to aid his pre-campaign for presidency. Additionally, 63% of respondents are familiar with the topic; however, only 25% consider themselves well-informed about it. The findings indicate a strong public interest in foreign policy and its potential political ramifications. Furthermore, the survey showed that Lula leads with 40%, while Flávio Bolsonaro has 32% in the first round of voting, expanding to 48% against 43% in the second round, reflecting the current political landscape.
