RBI Announces Variable Reverse Repo Auction: Impact on Indian and Global Markets
The Reserve Bank of India will conduct a Variable Reverse Repo auction in September 2026, reflecting its commitment to monetary stability and balanced economic conditions. This action is part of the LAF system and aims to control liquidity supply in the Indian financial market.
In a strategic move to maintain liquidity control in the market, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) plans to conduct a Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auction on September 29, 2026. This event is part of the LAF (Liquidity Adjustment Facility), which allows the RBI to flexibly adjust liquidity supply in the Indian financial market. The auction will notify a quantity of INR 2 billion with a one-day tenor and be open from 09:30 to 10:00 on the same day, ensuring reversal on the following day. This initiative aligns with a series of international measures aimed at stabilizing volatile financial markets and responding to global economic uncertainty. The decision reflects the RBI's commitment to monetary policy stability while promoting healthy economic growth in India.
