RBI Announces VRRR Auction: Implications for Indian Economy and Financial Markets
The RBI will hold a new VRRR auction in August 2026 to maintain economic and financial market stability in India, reflecting an ongoing assessment of liquidity conditions.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced a new Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auction scheduled for August 24, 2026. This move reflects ongoing assessment of current and evolving liquidity conditions, with the goal of maintaining control over interest rates and monetary operations in the country. The auction will be held during the morning session from 11:00 to 11:30 hours, with an estimated offer of ₹ crore (billion rupiah). This event is part of the LAF (Liquidity Adjustment Facility) mechanism used by RBI, aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability and financial conditions under control. The operational guidelines for the auction will remain consistent with those from 2020.
