RBI Imposes Fine on Financial Services Company for Non-Compliance

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed a fine on Sammaan Finserve Limited for failing to comply with directives related to early stress recognition and reporting in large credit transactions, highlighting increased regulatory oversight in the Indian financial sector.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently imposed a monetary penalty of 4.2 lakh Indian Rupees on Sammaan Finserve Limited, following its non-compliance with certain provisions of the RBI’s directions regarding ‘Early Recognition of Stress and Reporting to Central Repository of Information on Large Credits (CRILC)’. The decision was based on supervisory findings from an inspection conducted by the RBI as of March 31, 2025. This action is taken under Section 58G(1)(b) read with Section 58B(5)(aa) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. The intent behind this penalty is to enforce regulatory compliance and ensure that all financial institutions adhere to RBI’s guidelines, without passing judgment on any transactions entered into by the company with its customers. It also does not preclude other actions that may be initiated by the RBI against Sammaan Finserve Limited.
