RBI Launches Rural Consumer Confidence Survey for September 2026: A Valuable Input for Monetary Policy
The RBI has launched a new round of the Rural Consumer Confidence Survey for September 2026, gathering valuable information from rural households about their economic perceptions and expectations. This survey significantly contributes to monetary policy by offering detailed insights into the economic conditions in rural areas and semi-urban regions.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently initiated the process to conduct the Rural Consumer Confidence Survey (RCCS) for the September 2026 round. This initiative aims to gather current perceptions and future expectations from rural households regarding general economic conditions, employment scenarios, overall price situations, personal incomes, and spending. The survey will cover 31 states/UTs, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, among others. The results of these surveys serve as a valuable input for monetary policy formulation, providing detailed insights into the economic conditions in rural and semi-urban regions. Ipsos Research Private Ltd., based in Gurugram, will be responsible for implementing this study. Both selected residents by the agency and other interested individuals can participate by filling out an online schedule or directly contacting the Reserve Bank of India. This approach promotes inclusivity and transparency in data collection, enhancing public trust in economic decision-making processes. The RCCS is a practical example of collaboration between the private sector and government to provide robust insights on local and regional economies.
