Revamped Desenrola Adimplentes: A Boost for the Economy

The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) announced revisions to the Desenrola Adimplentes program aimed at expanding credit offerings and reducing costs for financial institutions. With a focus on preventing defaults, this measure could boost the Brazilian economy but still relies on bank implementation.

Last week, the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) announced significant revisions to the Desenrola Adimplentes program. These changes are aimed at expanding credit offerings by financial institutions, especially in a context where default rates have been growing alarmingly. The measure, which is funded by 70% of the federal government and has full coverage under FGO (limited to 50% of the portfolio), significantly reduces costs for banks related to funding and provisions. Additionally, the program now includes both admissible operations and those with a 90-day delay in payment, allowing proactive approaches to prevent defaults. Although individual financial institutions will still determine their credit policies, these improvements could potentially increase the reach of the program within a relatively short period, considering the need for technological adaptation and administrative procedures that should be completed in about two weeks. However, the effectiveness of these changes depends on practical implementation by banks.
