Rising Interest Rates Reflect International Pressures and Global Tensions
Long-term interest rates in Brazil saw significant increases due to challenging external conditions, particularly in the United States. Geopolitical tensions, reflected in rising oil prices and robust U.S. PMIs, directly influenced domestic market dynamics.
Financial markets in Brazil witnessed significant increases in long-term interest rates on Wednesday (23), amid a wave of tensions that spread rapidly across international fixed income markets. The external environment, characterized by substantial rises in U.S. Treasury note yields and geopolitical concerns, sparked an immediate sense of uncertainty that impacted the domestic market directly. In the local market, the DI for January 2027 reached 13.545%, a rise of 0.015 percentage points from the previous adjustment. The increases in interest rates for other maturities also showed significant movements, reflecting the impact of international conditions on the domestic scenario. The rise in U.S. yields was fueled by several factors, including the climb in oil prices above $100 per barrel and robust PMIs published by the U.S. services and manufacturing sectors. This situation underscores the globalization of Brazil's economy with international events having a direct impact on local volatility.
