The National Sindicato das Empresas Distribuidoras de Combustíveis e Lubrificantes (Sindicom) recently presented its strategic proposals to the presidential candidates. These initiatives aim to enhance competitiveness in the sector while ensuring clear rules, legal security, and regulatory predictability. According to data provided by Sindicom, the industry generates 447,000 direct and indirect jobs, invests annually R$1.2 billion in innovation, and has a potential tax revenue of R$232 billion. The primary concern for Sindicom is combating illegal market activities that cause significant economic losses and benefit organized crime. These proposals were also submitted to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) and ministries such as Mines and Energy, Ports and Airports, and Transport. The initiative seeks to ensure that regardless of future government management, these issues are addressed with urgency and effectiveness. Sindicom's emphasis on strengthening legal security and combating illegal activities reflects the global trend of increasing criminal activities in the energy sector, a challenge that requires international cooperation to overcome successfully.
