South Korea's Economy Surges: Semiconductor Exports Drive Record Growth

South Korea experienced record GDP growth of over 26% in the second quarter, primarily due to a surge in semiconductor exports. This robust expansion underscores the increasing importance of semiconductors in the global economy and the new economic opportunities they present.

Recent data from the Bank of Korea revealed that South Korea’s nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) surged by more than 26% in the second quarter, marking its highest growth rate since 1975. This significant expansion was primarily driven by a boom in semiconductor exports, which have been bolstering the country's trade balance. The GDP reached 834.9 trillion won ($622 billion) during this period, growing 9.2% from the first quarter of the year. South Korea’s economic performance comes at a time when global economies are rapidly transforming, with emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and electric vehicles driving new opportunities for economic growth.
