Stablecoins: New Tools for Brazil’s Financial Market
KPMG’s research indicates that banks and crypto companies view stablecoins as important tools for international currency exchange and corporate payments, with 80% either already issuing or planning to issue their own tokens. The focus on cross-border transactions reflects global trends, while robust backing and transparency are critical for the success of this new instrument in Brazil's financial market.
According to the KPMG study in partnership with ABcripto, banks and crypto companies see stablecoins not just as a means of value storage but also as potential tools for international currency exchange and corporate payments. The research found that 80% of organizations are either already issuing or planning to issue their own stablecoins, indicating growing interest in this segment. Main applications cited were cross-border transactions (33%) and corporate payment use cases (13%). This focus on international transactions and digital service integration reflects global trends shaping the future of financial systems. The study also highlighted the need for robust backing and transparency, with 67% preferring a stablecoin model backed by 100% reserves in cash or government securities. This trend is crucial for maintaining user confidence, especially amid current global economic uncertainties.
Adoption of stablecoins in Brazil could bring significant benefits to the local financial system, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs in international transactions. However, implementation must follow strict regulatory standards to ensure macroeconomic stability and protect investor interests.
