During the Febraban Tech 2026 event, Marcelo Noronha, CEO of Bradesco, emphasized the importance of directly hearing from candidates on their fiscal policy proposals. According to Noronha, understanding how these politicians plan to address growing fiscal pressures in Brazil is crucial, where the Gross Government Debt (GGD) stands at nearly 82% of GDP with an upward trend. He highlighted that focus should be on financial sustainability, irrespective of the political orientation of candidates. Noronha pointed out that events like Febraban Tech provide a platform to discuss these topics, allowing participants to evaluate future-proposed ideas from candidates rather than relying solely on their advisors' opinions. Additionally, he proposed several measures that could save R$ 250 billion in debt and emphasized the need for political will to adopt these initiatives. In another panel of the event, Milton Maluhy Filho, CEO of Itaú Unibanco, agreed that the economic debate should prioritize a forward-looking plan rather than polarized rhetoric. Both CEOs stressed the urgency of a balanced and sustainable approach to public finances, recognizing the importance of macroeconomic stability for continuous economic growth.
