USDCAD Battle for Control: Sellers on the Rise
The USDCAD market is experiencing a fluctuating period, with sellers gaining momentum after recent movements. Technical analysis suggests that the key for the next market movement lies in maintaining control beneath the 100-day moving average.
Recent financial markets have witnessed an intense power struggle between buyers and sellers in the USDCAD pair. Yesterday, sellers managed to push the pair below its 100-day moving average, currently at 1.39186. This breakthrough offered sellers greater control from a long-term technical perspective. However, the downward momentum could not be sustained. The price quickly rebounded and closed near its falling 100-hour moving average and a key swing area between 1.3948 and 1.3966. In today's early North American trading session, buyers made another attempt to regain control. The price moved above the falling 100-hour moving average and extended into the 1.3948 to 1.3966 swing area. However, this push ultimately failed. Sellers resisted at the resistance zone, stalled the advance, and turned the price back down. Currently, USDCAD has retracted below the falling 100-hour moving average, now at 1.39383. This shifts the short-term technical bias more firmly in favor of sellers and focuses attention once again on the 100-day moving average at 1.39186. That 100-day moving average remains the key technical hurdle for sellers. While they broke below it yesterday, maintaining that level is crucial to increase bearish conviction and open the door for further downward movement. If this can be achieved, the next targets would come near the natural support at 1.3900 and the 50% midpoint of a broader move. These levels' breach would strengthen the bearish technical picture even more. Currently, sellers are in control, having defended the 1.3948–1.3966 swing area and pushed prices back below the falling 100-hour moving average. However, to play this hand with greater confidence, they still need to break and stay below 1.39186.
